Single face ribbon is only woven on one side. It will feel more "plasticky". Some crafters prefer single face because it does not
shift when sewing. They put the matte side down. Because it is only woven on one side, it is very delicate. It is usually also cheaper. It is important to know that buying single face satin ribbon is only a good idea if you plan to hand wash any items you make with it and those item must be handled very carefully. Excess friction can cause the woven fibers to unravel easily. Care must be taken when washing items with single face ribbon. If you do not hand wash it gently and you expose it to high heat you are most likely to ruin the single face ribbon
Avoid washing the ribbon if possible. If the ribbon is visibly dirty or stained, try spot cleaning with a damp cloth or sponge and mild detergent.
If the ribbon needs to be washed, hand wash it gently in lukewarm water with a mild detergent. Do not wring or twist the ribbon, as this can cause damage
Gently press out excess water but do not wring or twist the ribbon. Hang the ribbon to dry or lay flat on a clean towel or piece of fabric
Once the ribbon is dry press it with a warm iron if necessary being careful not to apply too much heat or pressure
When storing the ribbon keep it in a cool dry place and avoid exposing it to light heat or moisture
